Arthurian Sword Temple - Flythrough

This was my final assignment for my 3D Texturing and Lighting class. We had about 2 months to design, model, texture, and light a small interior environment in Unreal. I experimented with a more unique visual style consisting of entirely hand-drawn textures and relatively simple models, taking inspiration from Hades (Supergiant Games), Moebius, Nausicaa (Studio Ghibli), and arthurian legend. While working on this project I learned a lot about working with Unreal, especially on the post-processing end. For the 2D outline effect I created a custom Laplacian filter that I could layer underneath any other effects or filters such as chromatic aberration or camera focal length.

Looking back on this project, I wish I'd lit up the outer walls/corridors a little more since the darkness contributes to a cramped feeling throughout the environment. It does push the verticality of the room but I'm bummed to see a lot of the texture work I did on the walls and foliage disappear into shadow.

Some of my initial ideation and visual development for the environment.
